This section requires that each facility type and location governed by Alabama Department of Mental Health Chapter 580-3-22 must comply with local zoning laws and receive zoning approval before obtaining certification. It is a procedural prerequisite applicable across all facility types covered by the chapter, which includes mental health and substance use residential facilities of varying sizes as well as substance abuse day services.
