Operators of certified facilities under the Alabama Department of Mental Health must notify the Office of Life Safety and Technical Services within 24 hours of any structural fire. The initial notification may be by telephone, but must be followed by a written notification that includes an incident report and, if available, a copy of the local fire department report. This is a fire-safety reporting requirement applicable across the facility types governed by this chapter.
