Gas and Vacuum Piped Systems – Warning Systems

This regulation requires that all master, area, and local alarm systems for medical gas and vacuum systems comply with NFPA 99 Category warning system requirements. It also prohibits the administration of deep sedation and general anesthesia using a Category 3 medical gas system. Facility operators must ensure their piped gas and vacuum infrastructure meets the applicable NFPA 99 standards for their facility category.
