This regulation establishes fire safety standards for newly introduced upholstered furniture and mattresses in healthcare facilities, requiring them to meet specific char length and heat release criteria unless the building is fully sprinklered. Nursing home residents' personal furniture and mattresses are exempt because nursing homes are required to be fully sprinklered. 'Newly introduced' means items purchased on or after the Life Safety Code final rule effective date.
