Facilities must ensure that gas equipment and piping comply with NFPA 54 (National Fuel Gas Code) and that electrical wiring and equipment comply with NFPA 70 (National Electric Code). Existing installations may remain in service as long as they do not pose a hazard to life. This is a physical plant/life safety requirement applicable to the facility operator.
