This regulation specifies fire alarm system installation requirements for facilities surveyed under the 2012 Life Safety Code (CMS-2786R), including compliance with NFPA 70 and NFPA 72 standards, detection in unoccupied areas, and monitoring of wiring integrity. It is a physical plant/life safety standard applicable to CMS-certified healthcare facilities. The CMS-2786R survey form is used primarily for nursing facilities and hospitals, but this specific K-tag pertains to fire alarm infrastructure rather than any particular behavioral health, IDD, ABA, or foster care level of care.
