This regulation specifies fire and life safety requirements for roofing systems that incorporate combustible materials in certain building construction types. Facilities must ensure roof coverings meet Class C fire ratings, that occupied building portions are separated from the roof system by a noncombustible floor assembly with at least 2½ inches of concrete or gypsum fill, and that any attic or unoccupied space is either left unoccupied or protected by an approved automatic sprinkler system. This is a CMS Life Safety Code survey tag applicable to healthcare facilities.
