Child abuse — reporting

Jurisdiction: NE Agency: Nebraska Legislature
Plain-English summary

This statute requires mandatory reporters—including physicians, nurses, school employees, social workers, and others—to report suspected child abuse or neglect to law enforcement or the state department via a toll-free hotline. Reports must include available information about the child, the custodian, and the nature of the abuse. The statute establishes the statewide toll-free reporting number and requires law enforcement to notify the department of any reports received. This is a general child abuse reporting law and does not license or set operating standards for any specific facility type.
