Plain-English summary

Upon admitting a person for treatment, the facility must inform the individual of their rights and, when feasible, obtain a written acknowledgment that those rights were explained. If the person cannot acknowledge or understand the notification, staff must document the notification process and have it confirmed by a witness. This requirement applies to treatment facilities governed under Pennsylvania's mental health procedures chapter (Title 55, Chapter 5100).

55 Pa. Code § 5100.55 - Notification of rights 

 State Regulations 

 Compare

Upon receipt of a person for treatment the facility shall
 advise the individual of his rights, and obtain when feasible a written
 acknowledgement by the person that his rights affecting their treatment were
 explained. In the event that conditions prevent such acknowledgement or
 understanding, the process of notification shall be recorded by the person
 designated and confirmed by a witness.
