This regulation governs Intensive Day Treatment (IDT) services under DC Medicaid, which consist of structured, goal-oriented individual and group therapies provided under active psychiatric supervision. Providers must obtain prior authorization, bill in one-day units, and adhere to restrictions on same-day billing with other services such as Medication Management, Counseling/Therapy, and Rehabilitation Day Services. IDT must be delivered at a DBH-certified MHRS provider site by qualified licensed practitioners or credentialed staff under appropriate supervision.
View official source5208 INTENSIVE DAY TREATMENT 5208.1 Intensive Day Treatment (“IDT”) services and interventions consist of structured individual and group activities and therapies that are planned, goal-oriented, and provided under active psychiatric supervision. 5208.2 IDT shall: Be billed in one (1) day units pursuant to criteria set forth in Chapter 34 of Title 22-A DCMR; Require prior authorization; Not be billed while a consumer is enrolled in ACT, unless otherwise authorized; Not be billed on the same day as Medication Management, Counseling/Therapy, Rehabilitation Day Services, CBI, FFT, MST, TF-CBT, Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Services, or TST. While a consumer is enrolled in IDT, Clubhouse shall not be billed; Be provided in a DBH-certified MHRS provider’s service site by Psychiatrists, Psychologists, LICSWs, APRNs, LISWs, LPCs, RNs, LMFTs, LGSWs, LGPCs, Psychology Associates, Physician Assistants, and credentialed staff under the supervision of a qualified practitioner licensed to practice independently. 5208.3 IDT providers shall not bill for Clinical Care Coordination (“CCC”) for a consumer on the same day as a consumer’s IDT encounter; Intensive Day Treatment shall be delivered in accordance with the requirements set forth in Chapter 34 of Title 22-A DCMR.
