This section clarifies that the term 'written' in the drugs and medications provisions of Chapter 5200 includes both handwritten prescriptions and those recorded and transmitted electronically. Electronically transmitted prescriptions must be encrypted or otherwise secured to prevent unauthorized access, alteration, or manipulation. Facility operators must ensure their prescription transmission practices meet these security requirements.
