This regulation establishes that in partial hospitalization facilities, certified registered nurse practitioners (CRNPs) are authorized to write and dispense medication prescriptions, subject to the scope-of-practice requirements under Pennsylvania nursing regulations. Facility operators must ensure that any CRNP prescribing medications in their partial hospitalization program is acting within the authority granted under 49 Pa. Code Chapters 18 and 21. This is a statement of policy clarifying prescriptive authority for CRNPs in this setting.
