This regulation sets physical plant requirements for heating and cooling in residential substance use disorder treatment facilities in Pennsylvania. Operators must maintain indoor temperatures of at least 65°F in winter and use mechanical ventilation (fans or air conditioning) when indoor temperatures exceed 90°F. Portable, non-permanently mounted heaters are prohibited.

Code § 705.8 - Heating and cooling State Regulations Compare The residential facility: (1) Shall have a heating and cooling ventilation system that is adequate to maintain an indoor temperature of at least 65°F in the winter. When indoor temperatures exceed 90°F, mechanical ventilation such as fans or air conditioning shall be used. (2) May not permit in the facility heaters that are not permanently mounted or installed.
