This regulation establishes admission requirements for detoxification services in Pennsylvania, requiring that admission procedures (other than emergency medical or psychiatric care) be conducted only when the patient is mentally and physically capable of comprehending and responding. Facilities must document a complete medical, drug/alcohol, and personal history; obtain consent to treatment; perform a physical examination; and conduct a psychosocial evaluation at admission. Compliance staff should ensure all required documentation is completed and retained in patient records.
