Certificate holders providing co-occurring disorder services must document whether each client has a co-occurring substance use disorder and mental illness, either by accepting a referral source's DSM-based diagnosis made within the prior 180 days (if no significant condition changes have occurred) or by conducting a new diagnostic assessment per Minn. R. 9505.0372. This diagnosis requirement applies to the co-occurring disorder treatment program governed by this chapter.
View official source9533.0080 DIAGNOSIS. The certificate holder must make a preliminary determination and document whether the client has a co-occurring substance use disorder and mental illness. The certificate holder must obtain the diagnosis or diagnoses in one of the following ways: § A. document existing diagnoses determined by the referral source, if the diagnoses: § (1) are determined according to the DSM; and § (2) were made within the previous 180 days, and significant changes in the client's condition have not occurred; or § B. perform a diagnostic assessment as defined in part 9505.0372 , subpart 1.
