This regulation establishes the licensing framework for private inpatient psychiatric hospitals in Kansas. Facilities may be licensed to serve the full range of psychiatric patients or a limited sub-group, and any service limitations must be stated in the license application and reflected on the issued license. Licensing of psychiatric wards within general hospitals falls under the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, not this regulation.
